Virual memory?

p c keeps saying its low on virtual memoery, what is this ,and how can it be improved ..................

Virual memory?
hello, try this......

1.) Go to "My Computer"....

2.) Open the "WINDOW" folder

3.) Open the "Cache" folder"

4.) "Sellect All" the data in that folder

5.) "Delete" all the files and send it to the "Recycle Bin' (then delete it there too)

6.) Go back to the "Window" folder again

7.) Open the "System32" folder

8.) Open the "Prefetch" folder

9.) "Sellect All" the data in it

10.) "Delete" all and send it to the "recycle Bin (then delete it there too).

11.) Close everything and "Restart" your computer.

If the above subject does not give you enough space, then it is about time you upgrade to buying an "External Drive" that uses USB and save everything there, just leave all the program files in your computer. Just use your computer to process or work on whatever you are doing, but use your external drive to save everything. In that way you can have ample memory. I use a 386 computer (it's a second hand but I upgrade it to work on Windows XP) with a "Penthium 1 processor". But it is fast, efficient, and most of all ... still reliable..... God bless.... enjoy life.
Reply:If you haven't ever changed the virtual memory settings yourself, chances are your hard drive is getting full. Delete any unneeded programs or files, run disk cleanup and defragment. That should get you by for a while.
Reply:Make some free space on your C drive by copying your file on CDs and then deleting them from the C drive, that will resolve the error message
Reply:i'd say free up some space, if that doesn't seem to work, sometimes spy/mal/ad/ware can cause this problem

So you should probably scan your computer for that too
Reply:windows by defult takes 10% of your memory for the recycle bin you dont need that much right click on the recycle bin go to properties and lower it to 2% that will give u some memory and also do what another person wrote to you in the right click my computer that should help and be thinking of getting a new computer with more momory hope that will help good luck
Reply:Widnows automatically adjusts Virtual memory by default.

So make sure that you have free space on your root drive (c Drive).

Reply:If you are using Windows XP, do the following:

1. Right click My computer, select Properties.

2. Go to Advance Tab, under 'Performance', click on Settings button.

3. Go to Advanced tab, under 'virtual memory', click on Change button.

4. Select Custom size, and manually increase virtual memory.

Note: The disk (C: or D:) must have sufficient amount of space to accomodate large size virtual memory files...
