Repeat question - My computer allows max 25% CPU usage to any process. 75% is idle. How to remove this limit ?

Hardware:

2 dual core AMD Optron 1.8 Ghz Processors.

4 GB RAM.

4 Processors are denoted by 4 simultaneous graphs in Task Manager.

OS: Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard

Problem: No process can use more than 25%. Rest is idle. Second process will also get exactly 25%. Then 50% is idle. This limit is wasting my time.

Settings:

My computer - properties - advanced - performance - setting - Visual Effects - "Adjust for best performance" is ON

Same as above - Advanced - Process Scheduling - "Adjust for best performance of programs" is ON

Memory usage - "Adjust for best performance of Programs" is ON.

Virtual Mem - Total Paging file for all drives - 6622 MB.

Virtual Mem C: - System manages size. Space available - 90586 MB

Virtual Mem D: - System manages size. Space available - 199941 MB

Raid 1 and Raid 0 is installed.

Right click the process in the task manager and set priority to "High" it has no effect.

$ 20 Gift to anyone who can fully solve this !!

Sounds like you have some awesome hardware at your disposal; I'm jealous. :-)

I recommend that you go to AMD Global Services website, so you can get the proper information you need, to setup your system for optimal performance.

There you can use the Online Help available, for the following:

* Processor Support Forums

* AMD Knowledgebase

* Technical Frequently Asked Questions

* General Frequently Asked Questions

* Warranty Documentation
Reply:if the software is not written spefically for a multi-proccessor system, then it will be confined to running on just one of them

just like if you run a 16 bit app on windows, ( which is 32 bit)

it will still only run at 16bit level.

if you;ve got 4 proccessors,

each one has %25 of the power,

and the app is made for a single processor, ( as would most of them be, because most home pc's have just the one)

its only getting 1 processor power.

If I remember right, some proffesional software ( designed for servers) has that support, but it cost more than the home versions.

to check to see if thats the prob, see if there is a benchmark from the motherboard website, and run it. If it from the poeple who make the double core, it most likely will have the support built in, and when benchmarking, it would put a high drain on the pc.....
Reply:windowis isn't yet meant for dual core.
