Asked this b4 but My pc freezes everytime I click on a link! I still can't get it to work! HELLLP!?

I dont know what to do and this is really getting frustrating for me.

My pc freezes everytime I click on a link! Whether its url or a button! Help!?

I don't know what I did. I kept getting this thing that said to update Jave. So eventually I did. I don't know if that had anything to do with whats going on with my computer. But, ever since then I can't open up any links. Everytime I try to click on something my pc freezes up. Whether its something that might say view invite or just the url. Everytime I try the pc freezes for at least a minute and when it stops it still doesnt take me where I need to go. I mean I just about can't click on anything. Any advice on what I can do to fix this problem?? I've cleared my cache. I know my C drive keeps saying I'm low on virtual memory. I can't think of anything else.

My pc is a sony vaio. I have Windows Xp

What is the total size of your C drive, and how much RAM does your computer have (if you can, right click My Computer %26gt; Properties to find RAM)

"I know my C drive keeps saying I'm low on virtual memory " That is a good indication of your problem..
Reply:I assume from the info you gave me is that your Java is not installing properly. Improper or incomplete installation of java give this kind of problems.

You have to get this Java installation file and install it in your computer. If you have problem connecting from your computer to internet, use another computer to download and copy to your computer and install. This java installation file is full version i.e. during installation, you don't need internet to complete the installation.

1%26gt;Go to http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download....

2%26gt;select link "Download J2SE JRE " for downloading J2SE v 1.4.2_15JRE

3%26gt;Accept the agreement

4%26gt; download "Windows Offline Installation, Multi-language" about 14mb in size

Install and run it in your computer.

Hope it solve the problem
Reply:hmm...

Freezes could be a couple things..

1. DNS is unable to resolve the site, so it is timing out trying to go somewhere. If you posted this from your computer, it is unlikely the problem. See if you can go to a site you've never been to. I like using the servers at OPENDNS.COM.

2. Spyware. They are trying to capture the sites you visit and it is causing problems. Scan the computer using a spyware program, and see if anything turns up.

3. Broken Java could cause problems, but it wouldn't just be buttons. It would be all sorts of issues, including some of the basics like Yahoo and Google wouldn't load correctly.

4. Increased security problems. If you are at work, maybe they are blocking the sites you are attempting to link to..

Good luck..
Reply:Im not sure what browser you are using......but it sounds like Internet Explorer

You NEED Mozilla Firefox......dont think so?.......search YahooAnswers and see how many people complain about Firefox....and then see how many complain about internet issues and are using Internet Explorer

Heres the link....just try it it can not hurt you:

Reply:I'm having this same problem. Tried both IE6 and IE 7. I had this once before and it was a missing exe file in IE deleted when another program was uninstalled (have you recently uninstalled anything?). It's also behind in the JAVA stuff. Very hard to update in this situation, isn't it? So far I've been making shortcuts and editing the URL, but it sucks!
Reply:if your low on virtual memory then your computer freezes because it doesnt have enough memory and takes a min to be able to process what you just asked it to do (open a link)

you either need to buy more RAM (physical memory in your computer)

or check that your hard drive isnt over 90 % full and if it is delete some things if you can
Reply:well, heres what I would say doing, Ive had this problem b4 so what I did was Reformat my comp, it removes everything off p.of it even some viruses, ur comp. might have to much memory packed into it and is not able to work properly. Or, it might just be that u r not patient and press buttons b4 the page has fully loaded because that could do it also good luck!
