I have installed this system in mention into a mini van, sounds good and all works, but i know there is much room for improvement. Looking to remove distorton from highs and mids and clean up sound from subs. I want the windows to vibrate but with very clear sound from my mids and highs. Im just not sure how to adjust the frequency and output levels to find my happy medium. Plus not too sure what the Q factor is all about. But what i do know is that my Pioneer cd player does have these features(to include 3RCA pre-outs, subwoofer control, mosfet 50Wx4, %26amp; 3band parametric equalizer). Also my amp(Virtual Reality Sound Lab) 2 channel, does have a built in crossover. My 2 12" subs are JVC in a 4'x2' box. Looking for some help.
How to tune car audio system(pioneer cd,200w amp w/crossover,/2 12"subs) regarding a)Q factor b)freq. c)output
The most critical adjustment is the gain or level control. All others are more or less to taste. The frequency for the subs should be no higher than 100Hz.
The purpose of the gain is to match the signal volts RMS coming from the source (CD player, etc.) to the input of the amp.
Here is a guide that will help you set the gain correctly http://www.datafilehost.com/download.php...
You'll need a multi-meter (AC voltmeter), Microsft Excel and a way to burn an audio CD from an MP3.
If you don't have Excel, e-mail me and I'll send you a condensed version sparky3489@yahoo.com
