Optics question?

a) If you want a real image, what type of lens should you use?

b) If you want a magnified image, that is one where the image size is greater than the object size, what type of lens should you use?

c) If the magnified image in b) is virtual, what can you say about the object's position?

Thanks!

Optics question?
a) if u want a real image use a convex lens. (only forms virtual image when object is between pole and focus)

b) if u want a magnified image, again use convex lens (magnifying glass uses convex lens)

c) LOL i answered that in (a) part - object is lying between pole and focus !
Reply:a)A converging lens can form a real image or a virtual image of a real object. Only when the object is a distance from the lens greater than the focal length will a real image be formed.

A diverging lens always forms virtual images of real objects.

Magnification:Transverse %26amp;Angular

for converget lens:

when the object is a distance from the lens greater than the focal length(but close) will form a real image grater then the object.

in this case you have a grater imagine but is virtual.

c) the magnified imagine is virtual for real objects when the object is between the focar and the lens (for convergent lenses)
