Ok, what do i need to do to really speed it up for GW?

Computer running slow?!?
How do you want to clean or speed up your computer?

Well, if you want to shell out some money to make it run faster you would probably need to upgrade your comp by getting some more RAM, maybe a new video card, or a external hard drive.

A Recommended External Hard Drive would be a Western Digital My Book. All you need is to plug it into your wall and the plug the USB into your Computer.

Stuff might need to be moved to another drive or deleted

--------------------------------------...

But to make it run faster for free:

Do a disk defragment this compresses your files and data, to access it click Start%26gt;All Programs%26gt;Accessories%26gt;System Tools%26gt;Disk Defragmenter

--------------------------------------...

Also Do A Disk Clean Up

This cleans out old temporary files

To Access it Start%26gt;All Programs%26gt;Accessories%26gt;System Tools%26gt;Disk Clean Up

Now in disk clean up there is a list of objects that need to be checked off in order to be cleaned. So here is a list of files that can be deleted safely:

Put a check mark beside:

Temporary Internet Files

Offline Webpages

Microsoft Office Temporary Files

Microsoft Error Reporting Files

Temporary Files

Compress Old Files

Now just put a check mark on those files and your set and hit Yes for everything and don't touch anything else.

--------------------------------------...

Not Required, but if you want to, or are a gamer it is good to know how to disable your Processes. Since processes do take up resources.

Close your Background Processes if you want to by going Ctrl+Alt+Delete then click Processes.

Note: ONLY End Processes with your Username (the person who owns the comp) on it.

For Example.

Username:

Jess J

Since it has your User Name in it so end it.

Do Not Processes Named:

Taskmger.exe

Explorer.exe

And Do Not End User Name Processes:

SYSTEM

NETWORK

LOCAL

If you do end a process that doesn't have your user name on it just restart the comp everything will be ok.

--------------------------------------...

It could also be you need updates for IE, so go to Windows Update, for RAM updates, go to http://crucial.com, most others would also recommend this as well, as a good RAM Provider. Last but not least it could be your computer has Spyware or Adware or a Virus so get a free Virus Scanner like AVG, Kapersky, NOD 32. Spyware: Ad-Aware 2007.

Have A Nice Day

Ken.
Reply:Ok well a little trick for trying to get Guild Wars to run faster. Open up task manager CTRL, SHIFT, ESC. Go to processes and then you can close everything under username thats under your log in. If it doesn't have a user name or is system don't touch it. Also don't close explorer.exe. When you run Guild Wars dash it down open Task Manager again and go to processes right click it set priority to High. Hope that helps.

Reply:Judging by those specs this is a laptop. You don't mention what graphics you have, so I'm guessing it's an Intel on-board chipset. And therein lies your problem. These just are not made for gaming.
Reply:you may need to defrag your computer:

Reply:Using a registry cleaner can clean up your computer and then make your computer faster,Why?the reason is that there may be some regsitry errors and remnant, corrupt files and temp files in your computer to cause "computer slow".

Everytime you install and uninstall software on your computer and surfing online you create junk in the computer registry.over time, the registry can grow to enormous proportions, especially if the various programs you've installed do not do a good job of deleting and/or updating it's Registry entries. You need to scan and clean your computer with registry cleaner to make it fast.Good Regisry Cleaner will improve your computer and Internet performance dramatically!

There are some comparison and review of TOP 5 registry cleaners.
