Cannot start yahoo sitebuilder after installing on xp home with media center notebook - cause? how to correct?

hi i have just downloaded yahoo sitebuilder on my pc but i cant run it. every time i try to open this software, a popup comes with a message titled "java virtual Machine Launcher" and then the message is "unable to access jarfile C:\documents and settings\USERNAME\application data\sun\java\deployment

\cache\javaws\http

\Dsitebuilder.yahoo.com

\p80

\v2006.05.24.16.12.58.764

\DMsitebuilder\DMwebstart

\RMsitebuilder.jar"

I'm on an XP home with media center laptop - the deployment folder is empty after installing sitebuilder - I've done the following:

- uninstalled(removed program)/reinstalled sitebuilder

- uninstalled(removed programs)/renstalled java

- checked to make sure java vm, scripting etc enabled in internet options under advanced

- even turned off firewall and popup blocking when trying to reinstall

Any ideas? note: I was able to install sitebuilder on my win2000 os pc at work. The deployment folder is okay and files and subfolders are there - can I copy them?

Hi - Jen from the Yahoo! SiteBuilder team here. It looks like SiteBuilder hit a problem when installing one of its launch files. I wouldn't copy the files and folders from your other computer; your best bet is actually to remove the problem file and reinstall SiteBuilder. Try these steps:

1. If you still have SiteBuilder installed, go ahead and uninstall it first.

(You can uninstall using the Add/Remove Programs tool on your PC: Click the Start menu in the lower-left corner of your screen, then Settings, Control Panel, and Add/Remove Programs. Find "Yahoo! SiteBuilder" in the list of programs, click on it, then click Remove.)

2. Now get rid of that troublesome cache directory, called "Dsitebuilder.yahoo.com." The folder is located in a folder called "http," which in your case is located here:

C:\documents and settings\USERNAME\

application data\sun\java\deployment\

cache\javaws\http\

Double-click on the My Computer icon on your desktop, then on C:, documents and settings, and so on until you're in the http folder (you can also just paste that long path into the Address field of your Windows Explorer screen, or do a search for "Dsitebuilder.yahoo.com"). Go ahead and delete the "Dsitebuilder.yahoo.com" folder.

3. Now try installing and running SiteBuilder again. You can get started on our download page:

http://sitebuilder.yahoo.com

If you still have trouble running SiteBuilder after trying these steps, other corrupted Java or installation files might be to blame. Be sure to contact us for help:

http://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/contactus

You can help our customer care team zero in on the problem by providing the error you asked about plus as many of these details as possible:

* Your computer's operating system

* The version(s) of Java you're running on your computer

* The directory structure of the folders in

C:\documents and settings\

USERNAME\application data\

sun\java\deployment\

cache\javaws\http\

Dsitebuilder.yahoo.com\p80\

Finally, follow the path of the error message and see if the file called RMsitebuilder.jar actually exists on your computer. If it does exist, jot down the file size.

Good luck!
Reply:The problem seems to lie with your Java.

Java is a programming language used to create the SiteBuilder application; the JRE allows SiteBuilder to run on your computer. Occasionally the JRE installation tool cannot download the files it needs to complete installation, resulting in an error.

If you experience a JRE error when trying to install SiteBuilder, you will need tp reinstall Java and starting the SiteBuilder installation again.

To install Java on your computer:

1. Download Java at:

http://download.yahoo.com/dl/sitebuilder...

2. Follow the instructions to install the latest version of Java on your computer. For assistance with your download, please visit:

http://java.com/en/download/help/

3. After installing the latest version of Java, try to install SiteBuilder again. To begin SiteBuilder installation again:

a. Locate the SiteBuilder application file on your computer.

b. You should have saved this file, called ysitebuilder.exe, on your computer when you downloaded the latest version of SiteBuilder.

c. If you can't find the file, go ahead and download SiteBuilder again at:

http://webhosting.yahoo.com/ps/sb/index....

d. Double-click on the ysitebuilder.exe file to begin installing SiteBuilder.

Also, disable any antivirus and firewall. Also, ensure that your computer does not have a software that automatically disable or delete a java file.
